The most beautiful thing I know.

————————————————————————————————

At 13 my friend Jen tried to teach me how to blow rings of smoke.
I’d watch the nicotine rising from her lips like halos,
but I could never make dying beautiful.
The sky didn’t fill with colors the night I convinced myself
veins are kite strings you can only cut free.
I suppose I love this life,

in spite of my clenched fist.

Meet me in the hallway, bite your lip when I say,
Never have you left my mind

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,
Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

Anonymous: All you ever post is music...

Well I think once I posted a picture of my cat, too.

And time would be a distant memory
Nobody could tell us to stay

Pity, take pity on me
Because I’m not have the man that I should be
Always turning to run
From the people I should not be afraid of
And darling, you should know
That I have fantasies about being alone
It’s like love is a lesson
That I can’t learn
So I make the same mistakes at each familiar turn

I know you can’t hold out forever
Waiting on a diamond and a tether
From a boy who won’t swim
Who won’t dip his toe in
Just to keep you here with him

bad news never had good timing
